Canada Day Reunion

What is it?
On July 1st, every few years, Lynn & Mike invite their friends to their home and garden for a bbq.  It's fun to hear things like 'Well, look who's here!  I haven't seen him/her in years!'

What's involved?

In the afternoon, there is swimming, horse shoes, badminton, or just sitting around in the shade with a cold beverage.

We used to do a small golf tournament in the morning, but have dropped that.  Those who are members of a club prefer to play at their own club.  And those non-golfers ended up being too tired to enjoy the party if they played golf in the morning.

We have a professional DJ/Performer to entertain us during the afternoon and evening.  There is also Karaoke, and we have had some pretty good singing voices over the years.

We cook a 150-lb pig and put on a feast for all to enjoy.

Dancing goes on into the evening, on our new dance floor on the lawn.  At around 11pm we turn down the music and sit around a huge camp fire.  Sometimes we have guitar players.

When is it?
Always on July 1st, Canada Day, but NEVER when it falls on a long weekend (Friday, Saturday, Sunday or Monday).  So, it could be a Tuesday, Wednesday or a Thursday, depending on the year.
When was the last one?
The last one was held on Thursday, July 1st, 2010.

When is the next one?
Wednesday, July 1st, 2015.  You will all be invited!
(If you don't receive your invitation from Lynn by May 1st of that year, get in touch with me so I will know that I missed sending you an invitation.)

Why do we do this?

Because everyone is so busy, and with friends all over town, and out of town, there just are not enough days in the summer to get together.  So this way we (Lynn & Mike) get to see everyone at least once, every few years.   It also provides a great opportunity for our friends to get together with mutual friends who they might not otherwise see. It's a win-win situation for all. Holding it only every few years means that more people can plan to attend.
