Bog Garden

This area is north facing, gets no sun, and is always wet.  So rather than trying to fight with its natural conditions, I created a natural bog garden.

I excavated 3' feet of soil, installed a piece of a swimming pool liner, and returned the soil, amended with compost, into the bed, after creating the retaining wall.

Now I have an area where I can plants that thrive in wet conditions.  It's a win-win situation.
